More about da Vinci Robotic Surgery
If your urologist recommends surgery to treat your
prostate cancer, you may be a candidate for a new, less invasive
approach to surgery called da Vinci Prostatectomy. This approach
to prostatectomy provides access to the internal anatomy through
five small incisions. The surgeon is empowered to perform a very
precise, nerve-sparing operation with the da Vinci ® Surgical
System. For the patient, da Vinci Prostatectomy may result in
more complete eradication of cancer, retention of bladder control
and potency.

The da Vinci Surgical System consists of an ergonomically
designed surgeon’s console, a patient-side cart with four
interactive robotic arms, the high-performance InSite® Vision
System and proprietary EndoWrist® Instruments. Powered by
state-of-the-art robotic technology, the surgeon’s hand
movements are scaled, filtered and seamlessly translated into
precise movements of the EndoWrist Instruments. The net result:
an intuitive interface with breakthrough surgical capabilities. |
The da Vinci Surgical System is the only commercially
available technology that can provide the surgeon with the intuitive
control, range of motion, fine tissue manipulation capability
and 3-D visualization characteristic of open surgery, while
simultaneously allowing the surgeon to work through tiny incisions
typical of minimally invasive surgery.
The da Vinci Robotic Surgical System is great for patients
and for surgeons. Robotic surgery gives an even greater vision,
dexterity and precision than possible with standard minimally
invasive surgery, so now minimally invasive techniques can be
used for a wider range of procedures. |
